Odd Photos

I find small oddities very interesting. This has lead me to take photos of some very strange things. Any captions or text are placed below the image because that is how we do it in science.

Europe Trip 2013:

Nice, France:

IMG_0280

An overview of the beach and Old Town. The site was absolutely gorgeous.

The beach in Nice was full of rocks, except for these small patches of sand.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0329

A statue I’ve found in the community of Cimiez.

IMG_0289

I found it amusing that this store in France advertised in English.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0263

Beside these gates were instructions for entering the castle/park. Of course everybody walked by and nobody actually read the instructions.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0287

Behind these doors was where the score for King Lear was written.

IMG_0424

This fedora says something, but I’m not sure exactly what.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0405

There was Metro in France!
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0400

Some paintings that an artist did and was selling them along the beachside. They were very lovely.

These cool figurines that I’ve found.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

Nice had Cheery and Vanilla Coca-Cola! I was quite excited about this.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0319

A statue of Lionel Hampton at a park in Cimiez. I see that he’s a fan of the Phantom of the Opera.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0294

A souvenir shop sold music boxes. I was disheartened to learn that this wasn’t Taylor Swift’s version of Love Story.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0223

An image of a distorted image of a building. It made me think about how we reform our own forms of reality.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0221

In Europe it seemed that whenever couples carve their names into things they would only use one initial instead of two.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0209

The building on the right had the same colour scheme as a cream-sickle. I thought it was cool.

Pizza!

Geneva:

—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0287

I come off the plane and this is what I see.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0302

Biology!
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0097

This was the best burger I have ever had. It was from a place called Holy Cow.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0094 IMG_0095

This was a cool piece of art. On the left, it looked like bits of scrap metal. From above, you realized they were statues of fish.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0161

There were ducks and swans by the river. After spending time seeing them both together, I begin to wonder whether or not the duckling was really any less beautiful than the swan.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0173

A statue that I thought looked like a swan. Then again, after staring at swans and ducks for an extensive period of time and taking about 50 photos of them, I guess many things begin looking like swans.

I couldn’t speak French so I took a picture of the menu on my iPad and then pointed to my order. I liked the crepé was so much that it still haunts my dreams.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0042

For some reason they gave me a cup with my bottled water. I first expected Anna Kendrick to show up, but after a while I just gave up.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0008

The water fountains right in front of the UN building. It was thought provoking to see adults walking between the sprinklers in full suits while children were jumping around and having fun.
—————————————————————————————————————————-

IMG_0085

The flower clock in Geneva.

I enjoy walking into book stores and taking photos of book covers. Needless to say, I like both of these stories.
